What has been going on

Well, I’ve been bad about updating the Adventure log as this new job has just been keeping me too damn busy but here is a rough overview of where we are at.

Character Deaths:
Edmond — Smited during the fight Aureen Vrood
Vinnie — Learned why you don’t taunt a Werewolf

Accomplishments:
*Followed Estovian Lozarov to the Stairs of the Moon after he revealed his true colors and that he has been helping the Whispering Way all along.

There you slayed not only him but a multitude of Werewolves and also communed with Desna where she showed you a glimps of the future: tentacles, vampires and undead dragons.

*Made a deal with a group of Werewolves (The Princes Wolves) who appear to be the only decent Werewolves. You got him the heart and he’ll protect the humans in the forest. He also gave you directions to go to Feldgaru which is where the Whispering Way is at.

*At Feldgaru you managed to finally trackdown Aureen Vrood and slay him. You also took on some Fiendish Werewolves and other undead creatures. You did clear the town but not before loosing Edmond and Vinnie.

Now you know a few more items:

1. Aureen Vrood has a master
2. He sent off a vial with swirling grey mist, part of a bloody heart in a glass bottle, a skull made of the fragments of 100’s of other skulls and the Seasage Effigy that was stolen from Leiptstadt off to Thrushmoor.

Adventure Log #14

We begin with the party returning to Ascanor Lodge in the hopes of finally figuring out what is going on in the Shudderwoods.

Upon arriving the part was meet by Estovian who apologizes for the trouble the party had when they first arrived and offered to help them, and the Palatine Order, however he can.

Leaving them in the library the party began to research in the library and began to find the first of several clues that pointed them to Estovian’s tower and his personal library.

The party also went and interviewed several of the workers there at the lodge. Delgros didn’t much information but did show of his stable of creatures that rich people can pay to hunt.

After this the party went to talk to Madame Invanga, the local madame, where Fingers rented a lady of the evening to “Pump” for information. What he got was an 80 year old experienced woman named Maude.

Fingers worked his magic and found out from Maude that several strangers, one of which matching Aureen Vrood’s description, was at the lodge 2 weeks and visited another of ladies there, Niama. Upon finding this out Fingers arranged a meeting with her, and Maude of course, where he after casting Charm Monster (and only affecting Maude) he eventually was able to bribe her into talking.

Here the party found out that 3 nobles from Courtaud hired her for an evening, one of which had an evil looking imp-like pet. But all they wanted her to do was dance for them and after an hour a new guest arrived, a silver haired woodsman, with a full beard who smelled like a beast. They requested that she leave but she heard them say something about “The Stairs of the Moon” and “The packlords heart”.

With this new information the party then went down for dinner where Edmond was confronted by Ilia and her new beau. During Dinner Garak talked to a Cilas Graydon who informed them of his missing friend, Echtmoor Dravin, who the party found in the lair of the dragon. Upon hearing this news Cilas left dinner, promising to reward the group for there news and for defeating his friends killer.

After eating and mingling, suddenly the door burst open and in squeezed in a Giant Tarantula (one of Delgros creatures that had escaped) they managed to slay the beast but not before it klled a few people and poisoning Fingers and Edmond.

Following the creatures path of destruction (and a trail of blood) they realized that the beast was let loose and purposefully led to the lodge. Estovian claimed that the beast was let loose by one of the stable hands, Paucy, who had a crush on the Markiza Welgory. The party however easily saw through this ploy.

Knowing that they had to explore Estovian’s tower the party hid out in the woods and snuck into his tower. There they found all about Estovian’s secret deal with the Whispering Way to control some spirit that he found at The Stairs of the Moon along with the fact that he helped the Whispering Way kill the Pack Leader, Kvalca Sain, and stole her heart for some dark purpose.

Armed with this knowledge the party went down to dinner to “talk” to Estovian who quickly saw what the party was up to. He distracted them by pretending to be willing to talk and instead summoned a Vilkacis, the spirit of a violent werewolf, which quickly took over the body of Illsa’s new man who quickly attacked and almost killed her.

Realizing that he was merely possessed by the Werewolf spirit the party knocked him out but then the worst came to happen and the Spirit possessed Edmond who continued the attack on the party. With some quick thinking by Vinnie and the others, they managed to knock out Edmond and keep the spirit from possessing anyone else while they destroyed him.

After hopefully “Curing” those few people that may have been affected by Lycanthropy the party realized that Estovian had escaped.

So now the party gets ready to follow Estovian and see what the Whispering Way is up to.

Adventure Log #13

As the party got ready for the trip into the Shudderwood, hot on the trail of Aureen Vrood, they received a request to go and meet up with Judge Embereth Darmid who wants to know how the trip to Schloss Caromac went.

Upon hearing everything she became quite concerned and revealed to the party that she is a member of The Order of the Palatine Eye, an ancient mystical order that works for good. She had heard of Cult of the Whispering Way and their ties to the Whispering Tyrant and is concerned about what they might be up to.

She offered an additional 1,000gp to track down Aureen Vrood and see what he is up to and also suggested that if succesful they might just be able to join her order.

With this knowledge the party left Leiptstadt, armed with newly purchased items, along with some crafted by BizzleFizz who didn’t sleep at all it seemed to craft these items, along with thier new friend the Cleric Vinnie, and made their way to Shudderwood.

On the outskirts of the forest they ran across the scenes of a battle, with an overturned cart and the dead bodies of several mercenaries. As they searched it became apparent that this group was attacked by Kobolds and that a female was taken by the Kobolds. As they searched the scene Edmond quickly became concerned as he was recognizing the clothes and perfume as the same that his fiance, Ilysa had.

Tracking the Kobolds proved to be an easy task for Malik who guided the group to the edge of a lake. Where a group of Kobolds, who were out on a small land bridge in the lake, appeared to be getting ready to sacrafice Ilysa.

Edmond rushed through all of the enemies to free his lady, while the rest of the group began to attack the kobolds. Malik began to shoot down the Kobolds while Garek dispelled the spells that the Kobold Druid was casting and the rest of the party fought off the Koblds that appeared in their midst.

Edmond fought off both the Scorpion pet of the Druid along with the Kobold’s leader who was armed with a deadly axe. The kobolds began to fall but then the tides changed when a Green Dragon joined into the fray.

Edmond nearly fell but was able to find some inner strength to fight on and the party finally managed to kill the last of the kobolds and the dragons.

Ilysa was clearly distraught but as they made campe she woke up and the party found out the reason that Edmond was so excited to be adventuring, for she is a complete bitch and wouldn’t shut up.

She made the ulimatium that either Edmond left with her then and there or she was through with him, Edmond was unwilling to do so as he knew the gravity of the situation and tried to explain it, but she refused to even listen, even with Garek trying to cast Charm Monster on her.

With this answer the party then slept and upon waking decided to search for the Dragon’s lair and treasure, and to get away from the non-stop bitching of Ilysa. Leaving Garek behind they found this treasure and Garek tried two more times to cast Charm Monster to get Ilysa to shut up, but she proved too willful and it was clear only the powers of a god could stop her.

The party continued into the Shudderwood and found the body of a slain werewolf, where they triggered a trap that nearly dropped Garek. Clearly this trap was left to slay any other Lycanthropes that came along.

After healing up the party continued onto Ascanor Lodge but were denied access at first. But eventually diplomacy won and the party gained entry. But then they were met by a young nobleman, Duristan Silvio Aresir, who talked the party into joining them into a werewolf hunt by offering to pay for their stay.

They went into the woods to track down the slain carcass of a stag who Duristain claimed was killed by werewolfs, but instead found that the carcass was being feasted on by 4 Fiendish Advanced Dire Boars. The party defeated the creatures and were able to determine that the stag had wounds from both the Boars and something that appeared to be Dire Wolfs.

Duristain convinced the group to stay overnight to try and get the Werewolves. After feasting and telling stories they realized that Duristain’s help had not yet returned and after a quick search found a large Werewolf had slain them.

The Lycanthrope advised the party to stay out of Werewolf affiars and to let whomever sent them know that his dealings with Mathus Mordinact and the Silverhide pack do not sit well with the rest of the tribes and the SIlverhide will never sit on the Highthrone.

The party and the Werewolves fought but the party was able to drive them off but one of them was left behind, still breathing. Upon questioning him they realized that the former High Packlord, Kvalca Sain had recently been slain and that all of the tribes had been fighting to see who would be the next High Packlord. It appears that Mathus Mordinact had conspired with someone at Ascanor Lodge to kill Kvalca in the hopes to that Mathus would become the next High Packlord.

The party made a deal, if they brought the Volenssag wolves the head of Malthus, they would be allowed free travel in the Shudderwood, and surely they can trust a Werewolf, right….

Adventure Log #12

After a good nights rest, the party decided to go back into this foul castle that had caused the death of two of their companions. But before they could go in they ran into a rather, scrawny, half-orc dragging a falchion. He introduced himself as Garak Darkwood, a scholar of magic both divine and arcane, who came to Schloss Caromac on the trail of Auren Vrood, a foul necromancer who belongs to the Whispering Way.

Together the party moved into the castle where Garak saw the path of devastation as the party has battled their way in. They quickly arrived at Count Alpon Caromac’s museum where they quickly found a room with 2 sarcophagus, several shelves filled with knick knacks including 4 jars with Medusa Heads and a pile of chains in the middle of the room.

As they began to explore the room Fingers was struck by some kind of force that knocked the lid off of one of the sarcophagus and threw him into the cabinets that had the medusa heads. The Heads, freed of the jars, quickly flew up and proved to be Screeching Medusa Heads, a type of undead but even more frightening was the sight of the armored mummy coming out of the sarcophagus.

As the group began to battle the flying heads and the mummy, the other sarcohpagus proved to be a Mimic hiding and quickly attacked Edmond as he neared the creature.

Fighting off the frightening affect of the mummy and the stoning ability of the Medusa heads, the party started taking down the creatures but it was at this point that Garak spotted an even more frightening sight coming at the party, an eyeless Flesh Golem led by several homunculi. Thinking quickly Garak closed and barred the door giving the party enough time to finish off the creatures in the room.

The Golem then bashed in the door laying Garak low but was taken down by the combined might of Edmond, Fingers and Malik.

As their foes fell Fingers realized that things were even worse then he thought as he was afflicted by the Mummy’s curse.

After some discussion he used the Ivory Goat of travel to quickly go back to Leiptstadt to get his affliction cured. As he returned to the group he spotted some dark clouds gathering around one of the towers. Finger’s told the party about this and BizzleFizz and Garak were able to gather that the ritual to summon the Pit Fiend was begining.

Rushing to the tower the party quickly scaled the path to the tower and went through the Count’s dangerous creature holding area, bypassing several dangers, as they made their way to the large tower that the Whispering Way was clearly using as the focus point for their ritual.

After buffing themselves the party opened the door, prepared for combat. They saw the Beast chained and connected to several cables that were channeling electricity into his body. Flanking him were 2 more of the Count’s creation that the Whispering Way had gained control of, a Flesh Golem built from the body of a Girallon and another built fro the body of a Chuul.

Realizing that they would need the Beast’s help to batle these creatures, the group quickly worked to remove the chains. As the two flesh golems moved to attack, luckily they were able to get them removed and the Beast proved to be quite the formidible ally as they attacked the Golems.

While the rest of the party attacked the Golems, Malik moved up the stairs to see who was performing the ritual. He discovered a rather skilled Sorcerer and a Priestess of Urgathoa along 4 large Lightning Elementals. With luck, Malik was able to quickly dispatch the Sorcerer before he could attack and the Elementals and Priestess moved to attack him.

Malik took on the Cleric and two the elementals while BizzleFizz brought back up Garak after one of the Golem’s laid him low. The rest of the party, along with the Beast, fought and laid low the 2 golems along with the other 2 elementals.

Though the fight proved quite difficult but the part ended up finally defeating the cultist and found out Count Alpon Caromac, who was still alive after being bound by the Whispering Way in a device similar to an Iron Maiden.

The Count informed them that the cultist, led by the Necromancer Aureen Vrood, captured him and took control of his creations to steal the Seasage Effigy (though he doesn’t know why) then head to the Shudderwood. He offered them 1,000 gp each, paid immediately, to track down Aureen and stop him.

He also informed them that once in the Shudderwood they should head for Ascanor Lodge as that is the only island of civility in these forests. This should provide them a safe haven along with a source of information while there.

After a day of rest the party headed back to Leiptstadt to gear up before heading off to Shudderwood. But on the way they were attacked by 4 Hill Giants and their 2 Dire Bear pets. Several of the party members almost fail but they ended up defeating the foul creatures.

Now the party is at Leiptstadt, to take advantage of it’s shops and get ready to follow the cult of the Whispering Way into forest of Shudderwood.

Adventure Log #11

We begin with everyone taking a rest after the battle with the Huge Air Elemental and in the morning they were surprised by none other then Edmund and Malik who convinced their Gnomish friend, Giblet, to come and try his hand at adventuring.

Miguel decided to stay behind and pray for the soul of the poor Professor Forsythe while the rest of the party pressed on into the Keep to see what else the cult of the Whispering Way left behind.

Upon entering the front door they were quickly set upon by an Advanced Hobbling Hook Claw Apparatus Animated Object who was joined by 2 Flesh Golemhounds. But bolstered by the healing magic of Giblet the party quickly defeated the guardians and uncovered the partially burned body of a cultist. Bizzlefizz took a look at some parchments that remained from the fire and quickly realized it was made of human skin. Fighting past his revulsion he was able to determine that it described a ritual that used a Flesh Golem that had gained Sentience to bring forth a Pit Fiend, named Baalzephon, and would make the creatures home plane that of Golarion, making him impossible to banish.

Armed with this knowledge the party quickly explored the rest of the mansion and uncovered much wealth and even a few magic items that should prove useful in the battles ahead.

After navigating a narrow bridge that lead to a building that had apparently been through an explosion, the party found themselves in the ruins of an alchemist lab. But before they could investigate they were attacked by 3 Rust Monsters, the creatures were destroyed but not before destroying Edmund’s Mithril armor.

After searching the rubble, and finding a Rod of Flame Extinguishing, the party found another narrow bridge, this time made of rope and boards and quite rickety.

Edmund used the Bag of Tricks they found to summon a mighty weasel to send across the bridge to check for traps, while Ion shifted into the form of a bird and flew across the chasm with a rope to assist in the crossing.

But halfway across the Weasel set off a trap summoning a trio of Devils. A Flying Erinyes and 2 Advanced Bearded Devils. The Erinyes quickly begin to shoot at the party while one Bearded Devil attacked Ion and the other attacked the rest of the party.

After taking several mighty blows Ion managed to hide in the building across the chasm while BizzleFizz summoned a pit to block the Entrance from the Bearded Devil.

During all of this the other Bearded Devil and the Erinyes continued to attack the party with claws, arrows and even an Unholy Blight from the Erinyes. Several of the party members were almost killed only to be revived by the healing magic of Giblet. The party managed to take out the 2 Bearded Devils as a fog cloud summoned by BizzleFizz shielded them from the ranged attacks of the Winged Devil.

As the party surrounded the Erinyes to finish her off, Ion, not knowing what was happening to his friends attempted to run across the bridge to help his friends. But lost his footing and fell down to his untimely end in the rushing waters beneath.

Once the last foul creatures were killed the party searched in vain to find Ion only to find his ruined body in the waters below. Rex gave forty a mournful howl at the death of his master and ran into the woods.

As the party prepared to bury one more of their group they wondered what else laid before them in Schloss Caromac.

Adventure Log #10

After leaving Edmund and Malik to wait for more supplies the party headed off to Schloss Caromac to meet The Beast’s Father.

Half way there they found a man in dark cloths waiting for them on the top of the hill surrounded by Fog. There he spoke to the party, informing them that they were becoming quite inconvenient to his master and so he purchased some bodies from the Chymist works in Leiptstadt and prepared a surprise for them. The party was also told that his master was in control of Schloss Caromac.

At that he waved his hand and the fog dissipated showing multiple Skeleton Archers, 4 Wights and a rather nasty creature with a long talons and ram horns, which was quickly identified as Greater Ceustodeamon.

The skeletons began to pepper the party with arrows while the wights and daemon went to attack the party and the cultist began to cast. Luckily the gods fathered them and they managed to shrug off most of the spells and energy drain (except Forsythe who got sapped of life energy by one of the Wights), and even a Slow spell casted by the Daemon.

Ion quickly summoned up some quicksand locking down the Skeletons and Cultist while the rest of the party made quick work of the Wights and Daemon, aided by the Spells of Bizzlefizz. They then went and finished off the Skeletons and despite multiple Spiked Pits created by the cultist, he was defeated.

The party then rested for the night and continued on to Schloss Caromac where they quickly realized that it was indeed taken over and in fact the Guardhouse for the entrance was guarded by 2 trollhounds.

While the party fought the 2 Trollhounds guarding the gate amidst the slain bodies of undead and their controllers, they began to get shot at by several Goblins and hearing even more, deep sounding grunts and laughs from inside.

Once the hounds were defeated Fingers climbed the wall and headed to the other side of the Guardhouse and Ion changed shape to a bird and joined him. During this Professor Forsythe lifted up the gate while Bizzlefizz attacked the goblins with his spells.

However, once the gate was opened and Fingers and Ion got to the other side of the Guardhouse the party quickly realized that there were indeed worse things then Goblins as they were attacked by several trolls, another trollhound and their leader, the Black Half-Dragon Troll, Grork.

Fingers quickly climbed up the wall again and headed to front to join Forsythe while Ion and Bizzlefizz began to cast their spells. But all were too late as the Grork acidic breath quickly brought Forsythe to the brink of death and then his claws finished the job.

As the party held off the remaining trolls, their fate indeed to seem quite dire when they were joined by the mighty Paladin Miguel and with their combined might they managed to defeat the creatures.

After healing up and Miguel telling his story about trying to find the Profersor, the party went and buried the scarred remains of their friend and then sat about continuing thier journey into the Castle to not let his death be in vain.

However as they went to unlock the door of the Manse they found that there were indeed worse things to come as a magical trap summoned a Huge Air elemental onto the bridge they were on.

They quickly fled into the gatehouse but not before the elemental turned into a Whirlwind and followed them in.

After attempting to capture several of the party into it’s whirling form, but only managing to get Ion, the elemental went and dropped Ion over the edge of bridge, sending him tumbling 150 feet down in the roaring waters below.

Once the Elemental was defeated the party thought they had lost their friend but Fingers managed to spot him, struggling in the water below, somehow still alive. After quickly going through their options Fingers said “Screw It” and using the rope of climbing to lessen the fall he went in to help their struggling friend.

He was able to grab Ion and swim him to the edge of the river before they both went over the waterfall, however they realized that they had no choice and both went over the waterfalls after using their healing wand to heal both of them up.

As the waterlogged Ion and Fingers rejoined their party an hour later, joined by Malik and Edmund, the party began to wonder if maybe they bit off more then they could handle.

Adventure Log #9

So we come back with the party, some dripping with acid, standing over the unconscious body of Vorkstag. He is quickly tied up and the rest of the compound, finding some rather nice loot along with a hidden cabinet filled with the flayed skins of quite a few people, including one that could easily be mistaken for the Beast!

After defeating some Alchemical Juju Zombies and finding Vorkstag’s body selling operation the party then woke up the Alchemists and after a few successful diplomacy checks (and intimidation) the party got him talking

The discovered all about his business selling bodies. On the crimes that the Beast was accused of, he admitted to stealing the bodies and killing the villagers of Morag, stealing the bodiees of the children in Hergstag after they were killed by the wraiths, and selling bodies to the Doctor at Sanctuary, as well as burning the hospital down, killing all there. They also found out that the Doctor was not even human but a Fey creature known as a Skin Stealer.

Armed with this knowledge the Party went to Court on the first day to defend the Beast. After presenting all of the facts about what happened in Morag, it was clear that the local populace was not too happy with how things were going. But they did impress a local Gnomish Cleric of Sarane who offered to jump in and help them with the rest of the trial.

This was shown by a group of Guards confronting them on the way to explore the island of Sanctuary, or perhaps they simply wanted loot as they first asked for 1/2 of what the party had. But after remembering that Edmond had a price on his head, know up to 1,000 gp, they quickly decided to take him by first along with all of the loot.

After a battle with a deadly Half-orc Ranger, Cleric (who was quickly slain), and a rather nasty Sorcerer, the party left the few survivors alive with a message, don’t mess with us.

Arriving at Sanctuary they discovered the scorced ruins of the one-time hospital. After finding a small tunnel the party sent Malik down to investigate and he was quickly paralyzed by the Ghasts waiting down below. As the creatures surrounded him, the party wasted no time jumping down into the pit and striking several of the monsters while they did this.

A battle quickly ensued with the Ghasts, their Dread master and his assistant, a rather nasty Crypt Thing. The battle was vicious and after a few rounds the Crypt Thing attempted to teleport the entire party but managed to only teleport the newly un-paralyzed Malik and the party’s Gnomish friend out of the old cellar and away from the fight.

While they ran back to join into the fray, the rest of the party struck down the remaining Ghasts and turned their attention to their master and the Crypt thing.

Malik quickly made his way back and joined the fight but the party was quickly getting whittled down by the undead monsters, with thier gnomish friend only arriving just in time to heal them up.

After finally defeating the creatures, they set about to explore the cellar and the creatures that they were fighting.

They discovered that the Dread Ghast was none other then the former Doctor of this hospital, Dr. Brada. They also discovered several vials of chemicals, further linking the good Doctor to the vile Vorkstag.

Armed with this knowledge, the party returned to Lieptstadt ready to defend the Beast and save him from h is fate.

Just before the second day of the trial began the party got the permission of the court to cast Speak with Dead on the bodies of the children to find out what happened, with the judges and prosecution present. The spirit of the children did advise that the Beast did not kill them and that it was an evil Wraith.

The party also questioned the Beast again and was able to see that the Beast was not laughing when he returned the body of the fallen child to Hergstag, he was crying.

The second day of the trail began and the party easily showed that there was no way that the Beast could have killed those Children and in fact was very upset over their deaths.

Upon the end of the Trial the party realized that it was very likely that the people of Leiptstadt were going to try and take this matter of the Beast into their own hands.

The party decided to stay and it was a good thing that they did as a large number of locals showed up around midnight to take the Beast and burn him. Through a series of threats, magic and a bit of fistacuffs the party was able to drive the townsfolk off without any deaths.

On the 3rd day of the trial, the party wasted no time presenting their evidence that the Beast was not responsible with the fire and deaths of Sanctuary but that it was Vorkstag. They even brought him up to the witness stand where he admitted to all of the evil deeds.

After the court was adjourned the Judges quickly came to the conclusion that the Beast was innocent. They proclaimed as much and even added that they will make Vorkstag pay for his evil crimes.

The Beast was quickly released and, fearing the angry locals, they quickly ushered him out of town but not before the Beast asked the group to visit him at his father’s house, Schloss Caromac (the home of Count Alpon Caromac) the former local ruler and known alchemist.
